From this site you can learn more about the online placement tests, the necessary technical requirements to take specific tests from your computer, and how you can prepare. When ready, you can also access and take a language placement test.
Note: Tests are now continuously available for most subjects. Availability of the online Spanish test is subject to the Spanish placement schedule. Russian and Japanese tests are available only during New Student Week or by appointment, only.

An introduction to online language placement via a list of frequently asked questions. Specific policies and information and resources regarding placement in each language. Computer-related requirements for each test, and links to download any needed materials or software, and instructions. If available, you can log-in to the online system. (access requires a NU network id, "netid" and password). Find postings of and links to language placement results, as they become available (access requires a NU network id, "netid" and password)..
* The tests may be unavailable during periods of regularly scheduled maintenance between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. CDT, Saturday mornings. Outside of this period, unforeseen circumstances relating to system and network availability, or other technical issues may also preclude access to some or all of the tests. Should the tests be "taken offline" for any known reason, a notice will appear here and on subsequent pages that lead to the online tests.
